The July 27, 2026 Amazon title rule, in plain English

On July 27, 2026, Amazon replaced its old 200-character title limit with a single, uniform cap of 75 characters across every category except Media (books, music and video). Most existing titles run 150 to 200 characters, which means the majority of listings on Amazon became non-compliant overnight.

What happens if you do nothing?
Amazon's AI rewrites the title for you, and it is not a simple truncation. It generates a brand-new title from Amazon's relevance model, your backend search terms and your bullet points. You lose control of how your product is named. Only Brand Registry sellers get a 14-day window to review the changes first. Everyone else gets rewritten automatically.

Every 2026 title rule this tool checks

RuleWhat Amazon requires
Length75 characters max, including spaces (non-media categories)
Promotional languageNo "free shipping", "best seller", "sale", "discount" and similar
Prohibited characters! $ ? _ { } ^ not allowed unless part of your brand name
Word repetitionNo word more than twice (articles and prepositions are exempt)
CapitalizationNo ALL-CAPS shouting, use title case
Emojis and symbolsNo decorative emojis or special symbols

Where do the extra keywords go now?

Amazon added a new Item Highlights field with 125 searchable characters that appears beneath the title in search results. The winning move is to trim your title to the 75 most important characters and move the rest of your keywords into Item Highlights, so you stay compliant without losing search visibility. That reshuffle across a full catalog is exactly what Zonready Pro automates.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 75-character limit apply to my category?
Yes, unless you sell Media (books, music, video), which is exempt. Some categories had lower limits before. Now the ceiling is uniform at 75.
Will Amazon really rewrite my titles?
Yes, gradually. Non-compliant titles are regenerated by Amazon's AI. Brand Registry sellers can review first for 14 days. Non-registered sellers cannot.
Is this tool official or affiliated with Amazon?
No. Zonready is an independent tool that checks your title against Amazon's published 2026 guidelines. Always confirm with your category style guide in Seller Central.
Do you store my titles?
No. The free checker runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
